Landfill Gas Remediation and Monitoring at a Closed Town Landfill Complex

Sand County Environmental completed a comprehensive review of the historic waste disposal practices and materials for a set of three landfills owned by an east-central Wisconsin Town.   Significant methane production, including migration outside the waste footprint, was documented.

Sand County Environmental prepared a comprehensive methane remediation program, including the construction of a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system and passive vents throughout the 40-acre complex.

Monitoring, the evaluation of remediation results, and operation of the SVE system is ongoing.  All work was performed in accordance with applicable WDNR rules and regulations, and was completed under the established budget.
