Making green remediation greener.  Phytoremediation can be supplemented using a pump system to recirculate impacted groundwater as irrigation.  Normally using an electric pump will produce carbon emissions, but not if it is a solar powered pump.  This particular solar pump unit is recirculating nitrogen-impacted groundwater onto a hybrid poplar plantation.  The trees use both the water and the nitrates.
